Our Elite Camp offers a range of experiences that assist athletes in their quest for improvement. They look to help swimmers learn processes that will stand them in good stead to tackle the fast-paced competitive world of swimming.

Across five fast-paced days, you’ll experience what it takes to prepare, think and perform like an elite athlete – pushing beyond limits, elevating performance and discovering just how far you can go.

What to expect

Performance training

  • 8 x swim sessions designed to enhance speed, endurance and technical precision.
  • Technical analysis to refine your form and learn new techniques.

Athlete education

Each camp features a refreshed lineup of Olympic-level coaches whose expertise, energy and passion continue to inspire our high number of returning MMSI athletes.

A double Olympian turned elite coach, Mel Marshall MBE has shaped some of the sport’s greatest success stories – including Adam Peaty’s record-breaking achievements.

The driving force behind our training camps and coaching programmes, Mel designs every session to maximise technical precision, resilience and progression for our swimmers. Her leadership and drive for excellence set the standard for athletes aspiring to reach the very top.

Melanie Marshall MBE

Former Director of Swimming at Loughborough University and Head Coach for the Great Britain Swimming Team, Ian Armiger brings a wealth of elite-level coaching experience to our MMSI swimmers.

Having placed six athletes on Olympic teams and helped build top-tier performance programmes, Ian’s passion for developing young talent and his depth of technical expertise are truly outstanding. We’re proud to have such an iconic figure within our coaching network!

A four-time Olympic Coach and Team England Coach for two Commonwealth Games, Lisa Bates brings exceptional experience and a performance mindset to camp.

A key figure within the Aquatics GB programme, she has guided swimmers from emerging juniors to senior international podiums. Lisa’s influence extends across every level of elite preparation – driving standards and inspiring athletes to reach their peak performance.

Former Head Coach of the Aquatics GB Performance Centre in Loughborough, Kevin Renshaw brings over two decades of elite-level coaching experience to our swimmers.

He’s coached Olympians, record-holders and world champions, leading British teams at three Olympic Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Kevin inspires confidence, resilience and ambition in our swimmers.

Lead Physiotherapist for the UK Sports Institute, Rachel Carter is a specialist in movement optimisation and performance resilience. She plays a vital role in helping swimmers train smarter and stay stronger.

Dr. Emma Mosscrop, former Biomechanist and Performance Analyst for Aquatics GB, brings expert insight into elite swimming technique and data-driven performance. Her research into starts, turns and underwater phases has supported Olympic-level swimmers and helped shape world-class performance programmes.

Emma motivates our athletes to refine every element of their race and push further than they ever thought possible.

Dr Hannah Stoyel, Psychologist for Aquatics GB Diving, brings exceptional expertise in mindset and performance psychology. Having supported athletes across Olympic and national programmes, she specialises in sharpening the behavioural edge that separates podium-finishers from the rest.

Hannah’s focus on resilience, mindset and self-belief empowers MMSI swimmers to navigate pressure and unlock their full potential.

Performance Nutrition Specialist, Fran Baldwin, brings high-level expertise in fuelling and recovery strategies for elite swimmers.

With experience across high-performance sport, her  tailored nutrition programmes optimise energy and support peak performance. Fran empowers our athletes to make smart food choices, train harder and recover faster – transforming nutrition into a competitive advantage.

First-class venue, Olympic-level coaching

Our Elite Camps take place at the renowned Bishop’s Strotford College in Hertfordshire. 

Across the week, swimmers will thrive in an exciting range of facilities: 

  • 2 x indoor pools 
  • 2 x top-class indoor sports halls
  • A cutting-edge strength and conditioning gym
  • Floodlit astroturf pitches 

Between sessions, our swimmers can recharge in the modern en-suite accommodation and enjoy downtime with their campmates.

I enjoyed the hard training and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I’d love to compete in the Olympics one day and this week has helped me progress towards my goals!

A week in the life at camp

You’ll learn what it takes to be the best version of yourself, in and out of the pool, alongside how to handle the pressures of elite swimming. 

See how the camp is structured to help swimmers grow and progress in just five days — making it one of the best swim camps for ambitious young athletes.

Day 1

Welcome to camp

AM: 

REGISTRATION AND INTRODUCTORY TALK) Kick things off with a motivating talk from your lead Olympic coach — they’ll share their top tips for success, along with their outlook for the exciting week ahead. 

PM: 

SWIM) Get to know your coaches with a drills and skills session! You’ll work on key elements to excel in the pool, including streamlining, rotation speed, butterfly kick and stroke rate.

TEAM BUILDING) Success only happens with a team of great people supporting you along the way. In this session, get to know your team leaders and fellow campers through fun team-building exercises and games.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING) Explore the fundamental core movement skills required for the pool, from explosive power and squat jumps to range of motion and streamlining. Mastering these functional movements will set you up for a successful week ahead. 

OLYMPIAN Q&A) Get ready for your first Olympian Q&A of the week! Be inspired and ask questions to help progress on your own swimming journey.

 

Day 2

Training like a champion

AM: 

SWIM) Experience a famous training set once completed by the legendary Michael Phelps. Test your limits and learn what it takes to push past them.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING) Train like a champion and push your limits in a high-intensity session designed to get your heart racing.

PREHAB AND INJURY PREVENTION) We’ll be joined by Aquatics GB physio to learn how to keep your body healthy, recover properly and prevent common swimming injuries.

PM: 

SWIM) Next we’ll work with a sports biomechanist for detailed underwater video analysis and personalised stroke feedback.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING) Get your heart racing in a high-intensity session with our elite strength and conditioning coach.

PREHAB & INJURY PREVENTION) Back with the physio this afternoon, covering your essential joint movements and mobility exercises to keep your body in elite-level shape. 

OLYMPIAN Q&A) We’ll be joined by our second Olympian of the week — another chance to get insider tips for swimming success and meet a sporting star!

 

Day 3

Technique, technique and more technique

AM: 

SWIM) Work hard with a threshold set this morning, delivered by your second Olympic-level coach of the week.

TECH ANALYSIS) Join our biomechanist for an in-depth look at race and stroke technique. Get ready to analyse the world’s best swimmers and take home practical tips for your own strokes.

OLYMPIAN Q&A) Meet your third Olympian of the week for a Q&A, don’t forget your all-important photo and autograph! 

PM: 

SWIM) Test your technique with starts and turns this afternoon alongside your Olympic coaching team.

NUTRITION WORKSHOP) Learn how to fuel your training and perform at your best on race day with a sports nutrition expert.

STRETCH & MOBILITY) Wind down with some good tunes while working on flexibility — the perfect way to relax, recover and recharge after a big day in the pool.

 

Day 4

Get race day ready

AM: 

SWIM) Short and sharp is the theme of this morning’s speed-focused session. Race against your teammates, motivate each other and enjoy fast swimming to get you prepped for tomorrow.

SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY) Discover strategies to build a performance mindset and manage pressure like an elite athlete.

RECOVERY TIME) Unwind with some all important recovery/downtime. To be the best, recovery is key, use this extra time to relax and get your body ready for some fast swimming tomorrow morning!

PM: 

SWIM) 24 hours to go until race day! Now’s your chance to fine-tune strokes and strategy ahead of tomorrow’s mini meet.

SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY) Enjoy a goal setting masterclass with your psychologist. Explore short-term, long-term, process and outcome goals, plus how to apply SMART frameworks to your progress.

STRETCH & MOBILITY) Final chance to recover and remove lactic acid, ensuring your body is in the best shape for race day! Relax and stretch off with your friends.

 

Day 5

MMSI Open Meet Race Day

Put the week’s hard work into practice at our exclusive MMSI Open — race your peers, push your limits and soak up the competitive atmosphere. Plus, you’ll receive expert feedback and motivation from your Olympic coaching team. 

This is your chance to have some fun and celebrate your amazing progress during your time at camp!
